There is still time to go and see the amazing work of Biggar Embroiderer’s Guild who are celebrating their 40th Birthday this month. I am a relatively new member of the Guild but I’m delighted to have two pictures (Pink Sky and Telephone Box) featured in the exhibition.
There are many different types of embroidery on display as well as bead work and jewellery.
The Exhibition at UNESCO World Heritage Site New Lanark is a real privilege and we celebrated with a presentation to founding members and also an afternoon tea. Where ever I go in the stitching world there is always an abundance of cake.
The Guild’s exhibition sits within the large display space in a former mill at New Lanark and is alongside the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry which charts the success of Scots who moved abroad, sharing their skills in their new homelands.
New Lanark is a great day out for the whole family and the setting in the Falls of Clyde Nature Reserve is breathtaking. I hope you can make it along and remember access the Biggar Embroiderer’s Guild Exhibition is FREE.
